Bandwidth
Bandwidth options range from 64Kbps to 2Mbps, rising to 10Mbps, 100Mbps or even 1Gbps, for locations less than 25km from the nearest SotaConnect POP.
SotaConnect Liquid Internet is contention-free, which means that bandwidth is not shared with other users. Unlike ADSL which has restricted upload bandwidth, SotaConnect Liquid Internet is synchronous, providing equal upload and download bandwidth at all times. These features are critical when hosting e-mail and web servers, or when using an Internet connection to support a VPN infrastructure.
Bearer
SotaConnect Liquid Internet is delivered on a bearer which connects the customer site to the nearest SotaConnect PoP. This bearer is then either fully, or partially, populated with Internet content.
The bearer is usually a leased line SDH circuit, such as a BT Megastream, delivered either on fibre or on copper. For most locations within a 25km radius of the SotaConnect PoP, the bearer can be LES circuit delivered on fibre, providing a 10Mbps Ethernet connection (LES-10) or a 100Mbps Fast Ethernet connection (LES-100).
Internet Content
Internet content can be scaled up or down as required, up to the full capacity of the bearer. This provides convenient flexibility, cost-optimisation, and the potential to use spare bandwidth within the bearer for other services such as on-net connections to other regional or national PoP's, off-site backup, server co-location, disaster recovery, or voice over IP telephony.
Service Level Agreement
SotaConnect Liquid Internet is provided with an industry standard service level agreement offering 99.9% availability and guaranteed levels of latency and packet loss. Credits may be applied for if the service level guarantee is not met.
Installation
A SotaConnect Liquid Internet connection with a SDH bearer is usually supplied with X21 presentation. A SotaConnect Liquid Internet connection with a LES bearer is presented as RJ45/Ethernet. For either option, a fully managed router is supplied if required.
